Scottish Gerard Butler has died just days after an internet hoax falsely reported on his death. The 47-year-old was found dead at his home after apparently taking his own life.
In the eve hours of today, the actor’s reps officially confirmed that Gerard Butler is dead but declined to give details surrounding his sudden demise.
This tragic event was proceeded by an internet hoax just days before claiming that the actor had died.
A false article was published on Friday, October 20, titled “Action Hero Gerard Butler dies ” : Action Hero killed by internet death hoax.
According to their report, which was published prior to his death, their sources originated from Facebook page named ‘R.I.P. Gerard Butler’, which was created on Friday and quickly gained close to one million likes.
Many fans immediately began posting tributes to the actor but others were sceptical of the news, pointing out that no British major news networks were yet to run the story.
News of actor Gerard Butler’s death spread quickly earlier this week causing concern among fans across the world. However the October 2017 report was immediately confirmed as a complete hoax and just the latest in a string of fake celebrity death reports. But sadly, the new development seems to be tragic in coincidence, a doom-prophecy affair, the actor best known for his roles in London Has Fallen or The Phantom of the Opera has passed away.
A recent poll conducted for the Celebrity Post shows that a large majority (95%) of respondents thought those Gerard Butler death rumors might have triggered the suicidal act.
Some fans have expressed anger at the fake report saying it was demonic and a doom one, probably the leading cause of Butler’s untimely death.
