Ghanaian Veteran Actor, Kofi Adu, aka Agya Ko has been arrested by security operatives at the Heathrow Airport in London.
Officials said Agya Koo as popularly known in show biz was arrested wee hours of yesterday carrying cocaine weighing 11.5kg valued at several hundred thousand pounds.
Kofi Adu, 47 went through screening procedures at the Kotoka International Airport without any problems but was busted in London.
He was arrested by border officials after questioning.
Agya koo has been charged with attempting to import a class A drug.
Border Force Heathrow Director Marc Owen said: “This seizure has prevented a large quantity of drugs from reaching our streets.I would like to thank the officers for their work in protecting the UK from this terrible trade.”
Kofi Adu born 25 May 1969, aka Agya Koo, is an award-winning actor and comedian from Ghana.
He has appeared in many Ghanaian movies such as Obaatanpa, Black Star and Ma Trick Wo.
Adu was originally from the Ashanti Region of Ghana, but lived in a suburb in Accra Newtown called Asantewaa.
He worked as a shoemaker. Adu was discovered on a Ghanaian comedy show on GTV Ghana National Television at the National Theater in Accra, where he worked as a comedian warming up the crowd.
In July 2008, he was awarded a National Award by then-Ghanaian President John Agyekum Kufuor. Although he originally journeyed to Accra to sing, Agya Koo has been featured in over 90 Ghanaian movies, 15 of which remain his favorite
Kofi Adu will appear at Isleworth Crown Court on November 27.
