The Baby Pearls lost 79-28 to defending champions New Zealand in the semi-finals of the Netball World Youth Cup in Botswana yesterday.
The Fijians trailed 38-19 at halftime and will now face-off England in the 3rd place playoff.
Netball Fiji president, Wainikiti Bogidrau applauded the effort of the girls on her Facebook.
“Nothing to lose, so much to gain…Thank you Baby Pearls! You have done us all proud,” Bogidrau posted.
Despite going down against New Zealand, it is a momentous step forward for netball Fiji as it is the first time that Fiji has ever reached the semifinal stage.
And also a great achievement to finish in the top four positions out of the 20 countries.
Meanwhile, in the other semifinal, Australia beat England 59-39.
